Fall is Here!

On Tuesday  we left New York and drove through eastern Massachusetts and the Berkshire hills to witness the beginning of the fall foliage.  We knew that we would miss most of the fall colors when we started out trip in mid-September, which we did intentionally to avoid the masses of "leaf peepers".  We have been seeing glimpses of some colors here and there, but we were treated to some beautiful displays of fall colors in the Berkshires.

We also have been surprised by the amount of hilly terrain in New England.  We though most of it was flat except for Vermont and New Hampshire, but we drove through beautiful hilly and almost mountainous terrain on our way through eastern Massachusetts into Connecticut.

We also had the blessing and privilege of going to the open house of the Hartford, Connecticut Temple.  We just happened to hear about it when we were attending church in Vermont, so we planned our route to Rhode Island so that we would pass by the temple.  It is a beautiful temple (as they all are), and even though the session rooms can only hold the same number of patrons as the Spokane temple, the temple as a whole is larger and grander.  We both felt the Spirit and enjoyed the peace and tranquility in the temple.
